Looking into the New Year,
many of us vow to use up our scraps.
Join me, by making this Scrap Tote to use in 2016.

January 2015 Moda Club

Great to see so many of you!  It's so fun to gather and see what everyone has been working on this Winter.  We had 39 blocks turned in for our 2015 group quilt.  It is together, but awaiting a border and quilting .  Hope to have it hanging for the February Moda Club  Meeting on 2/18/15.

This quilt will hang in our club room, until one of you (who made a block), wins it in November.  We received a lovely thank you note from Donna Sager, who won last years quilt.

Entry forms are available for
Red White and Free

Because of the Brave

My first efforts at using scraps for 2015, involved making pillows.
Complete tutorial here.   By adding a zipper you can change up that same pillow form throughout the year.  Fun and fast to make.

Linda shared a quilt called Sweet Tea.

This quilt would work very nice with any jelly roll.
The shop sample is made with Persimmon by Basic Gray.

Whatcha Got?
Judy and Sue turned me on to this pattern.....
Warning...it's a little addicting...
Our shop sample is made using Sugar Flower, by Leichen.

This month's freebie link is the Meadowlark Tote.
We made it up in two different fabric lines.

This would be the perfect bag to make with stashed fabric.  Or, add a new fabric to a stashed piece to make your own stunning tote.

Our featured yarn, for this month, is:
Llama Una, by Mirasol Yarns.
It's 109 yards of 100% llama.  Recommended needle size 6.

Tari made this Easy Ombre Slouch Hat
Stop by the shop to check out all the new yarns.

Don't miss out!  Shop The ABC Shop Hop 2/12-2/14.
No passport purchase required.
Pick up a bookmark at any of the participating shops.

We had lots to share this month!

Linda, whipped up some kitchen fun for us with this 60's R&R Apron.

It's reversible!

The evening group got to see some pumpkin smiles that Sandy, embroidered for us.

(Pattern available at the shop.)

Lazy Girl has come out with a whole
line of interfacings.

Slicker and Stiff Stuff, were used in this sweet tote by Lazy Girl.  (Great instructions with lots of pictures)  Features lots of tips for using their interfacings.

For those of you that fell in love with this fabric,
more is on the way!

Those of you that attended, got to see our "Not a Mystery" Mystery Quilt.   We passed out step one.  As soon as I finish binding my quilt, I'll post a picture.  (It will also be on display)  I know it's hard to pick fabrics for something you haven't seen yet.   If you keep up with it, monthly, you'll have a completed quilt by the end of November.   Could be a very nice Christmas Present, wedding gift, or something to snuggle under as the cooler weather hits.

Our Christmas Challenge continues.

I had linked these cute gift bags in the reminder.   They were so fun to make!  I couldn't stop at just one.....had to make all three sizes!

Thanks for bringing all your Show & Tell!
(You know it's my favorite part.)

Our next Moda Club will meet on 9/18/13,
Mark you calendars now.

Knitting also starts back up again in September.
We will have a 1-3p.m. knitting group and another from 5-7p.m. New yarns continue to arrive!

I'm still playing with my blocks to find the design I like best.

Summer is approaching, and with that road trips.   Most of us have grandchildren or special young people in our lives.   These road trip pillow cases would be a wonderful gift.

The strap make transporting easy.

January 2013 Moda Club

This year we are going to feature a fat quarter project each month.  This month's project takes 3 fat quarters.

For those of you that like rulers, we now have a fat quarter ruler.  It has less markings and is a little easier on the eye for cutting up your stash or fat quarters for projects.  Check out the video here.

Our Granny Along is continuing.  I'm hoping to get my blocks all put together before the end of this month.  We will have a participation drawing for this project in March.  It's not too late to play along.

For 2013, we have invited you to make a spool block.  The fabric for the "spool" and background were given out at the December and January Moda Club.  We will collect them all next month.

Tumbling Blocks

Judy Engle, has lent us her fat quarter quilt for a little inspiration.
This pattern is available in the shop.  Fabric is Mod Century.

Mondo Bag

Rose has inspired us to make this Quilt Smart bag.  Anyone interested in working on this project can sign up for 2/2/13.  We will meet starting at 9a.m.  This is going to be held more like a retreat than a class.  Group size is limited to 15, so be sure to sign up soon. There is no fee, but your pattern should be purchased at the shop.  I will be contacting those who sign up about supplies etc.

December Moda Club 2012

The last pincusion for this year was presented.  It's Laundry Baskets Quilt's,

Our Granny Along will continue through March.  For those of you who participate, we will have a door prize drawing then.  One entry for each "Granny Square" you use.

As we look toward the New Year, I am looking for club members to make one block for this quilt that I'd like to hang in our club room.  At the end of 2013, we will have a drawing for it.  Anyone who contributes a block, will get their name in the drawing.  It will be up for display all year, for us to enjoy.  I hope you will join in the fun.  I will have some baggies with spool pieces and background pre-cut for you.  You will need to supply the scraps for the "thread" on your spool.  Please turn your block in at the January meeting or drop it off at the shop.  Due to the Holidays, we will extend this project into next month.  So don't worry if you missed getting background strips...I have them for you

New Snap Tote

I'm looking forward to hosting our first "Old Bag's" Group, on January 5th.  There are only 15 seats for this group.  You will need to purchase the pattern, bring your materials, and sewing machine.  There is no fee for the day.  It is not going to be run like a class, but more like a retreat day where we will all be working on the same project.  Stop by the shop to sign up.
