June Moda Club Progam

It was great to see so many of you and SO MUCH show and tell!    Keep it up gals!  Show and tell is my favorite part.  Love seeing what you are making!

Kathy shared the fourth, and final, small quilt from Lori Smith's Fat Quarter Book.

Next month (July), we will have a door prize drawing.  To be included in this drawing,

you just need to make 4 small quilts from the Fat Quarter Book.  They do not need to be framed.

Your choice of which four you make. We saw a couple of very nice ones during show and tell...

 

Teresa, did a WONDERFUL presentation on the Quick Curved Ruler.  This table topper pattern is included with the ruler.

She covers how to cut, sew and square up your blocks.

 

Teresa made several table toppers with this ruler. 

 

Teresa uses two layers of batting and insul bright for her table toppers.

Makes it great for using hot dishes on.

 

 

There are at least 24 different quilt patterns using this ruler.

Several of us are joining along.  Be sure to bring your progress to show and tell.

June Moda Club Reminder

 Still finding a little time for sewing.....Hope you are too!   Moda Club meets this Wednesday, at 1p.m. or join us at 5:30p.m.    We have lots to share with you and love your show & tell.

 Used part of a panel to make this pillow.

 

 Squared panel piece up to 9x9, then added 1.5" borders.

 

Topped that off, with 3.5" borders. 

Then squared up to the same size as my pillow insert. 

If you want a looser fit, add 1 inch.

 



To put a zipper in the back, I always follow this great video or instructions

from House on Hill Road.

The Lori Smith, small quilt challenge continues.

Summer is approaching, and with that road trips.   Most of us have grandchildren or special young people in our lives.   These road trip pillow cases would be a wonderful gift. 

 

 

The pocket on the pillowcase holds crayons, coloring books or electronic devises.

Want to make a sweet receiving blanket for a special baby?   Check out this video.  It's made much like a 10 minute tablerunner.   Fabric requirements:  40x40" square of fabric and a "30x30" square of fabric.  Printed directions for another size can be found here.

The pattern instructions include 5 different options for cutting and sewing.

Sweet Celebrations

 

 

A reversible apron that is also made using fat quarters.  It is featured on the cover of the Moda book, Sweet Celebrations, along with many other great projects.   This apron, would make such a cute gift.

 

# 9725 Neck Down Cardigan for Women

 

 

If you are new to knitting, or just don't like sewing pieces together, this is the sweater for you.  This sweater is knit from the neck down.  Once you get below the shoulder, sleeve stitches are put on holders while you knit the body of the sweater.  You then go back and knit the sleeves to desired length.  No sewing required.  My sample is made with Cascade 220 yarn (worsted).

January 2013 Moda Club

This year we are going to feature a fat quarter project each month.  This month's project takes 3 fat quarters.

For those of you that like rulers, we now have a fat quarter ruler.  It has less markings and is a little easier on the eye for cutting up your stash or fat quarters for projects.  Check out the video here.

 

 

Our Granny Along is continuing.  I'm hoping to get my blocks all put together before the end of this month.  We will have a participation drawing for this project in March.  It's not too late to play along.

 

For 2013, we have invited you to make a spool block.  The fabric for the "spool" and background were given out at the December and January Moda Club.  We will collect them all next month.

Mondo Bag

 

 

Rose has inspired us to make this Quilt Smart bag.  Anyone interested in working on this project can sign up for 2/2/13.  We will meet starting at 9a.m.  This is going to be held more like a retreat than a class.  Group size is limited to 15, so be sure to sign up soon. There is no fee, but your pattern should be purchased at the shop.  I will be contacting those who sign up about supplies etc.

December Moda Club 2012

The last pincusion for this year was presented.  It's Laundry Baskets Quilt's,

Friendship Spool Pincushion

 

 

Our Granny Along will continue through March.  For those of you who participate, we will have a door prize drawing then.  One entry for each "Granny Square" you use.



 

 

As we look toward the New Year, I am looking for club members to make one block for this quilt that I'd like to hang in our club room.  At the end of 2013, we will have a drawing for it.  Anyone who contributes a block, will get their name in the drawing.  It will be up for display all year, for us to enjoy.  I hope you will join in the fun.  I will have some baggies with spool pieces and background pre-cut for you.  You will need to supply the scraps for the "thread" on your spool.  Please turn your block in at the January meeting or drop it off at the shop.  Due to the Holidays, we will extend this project into next month.  So don't worry if you missed getting background strips...I have them for you

 

 

New Snap Tote

 

 

 

I'm looking forward to hosting our first "Old Bag's" Group, on January 5th.  There are only 15 seats for this group.  You will need to purchase the pattern, bring your materials, and sewing machine.  There is no fee for the day.  It is not going to be run like a class, but more like a retreat day where we will all be working on the same project.  Stop by the shop to sign up.

Moda Club Reminder

Our Moda Club meets this Wednesday, 10/17/2012

at 1p.m. and again at 5:30p.m. 

 

Our current challenge is Christmas Tree Pants.  Be sure to bring in your progress for a chance in the participation drawing.  If yours is complete, I'd love to put it on display until our November meeting.

At the November meeting, we will take a group photo of participants and have a drawing for those who have completed this project.

 

 

Our current challenge is the Granny Along.  Be sure to bring in your blocks, for show and tell, to be added to our participation drawing.  This version of the Granny Along is by Sew Take A Hike.

 

 

She used 4.5 inch blocks instead of 2.5 inch blocks. 

Hope you will plan to use up some of your scraps.  Donate, gift or use your quilt.

Any version of granny along, or great granny along is encouraged.  Just join in the fun!

This challenge will go through our March gathering.

April Moda Reminder

Moda Bake Shop presented On The Go Baby Boy Quilt, by Melissa Corry. Super cute! Made using Ten Little Things Charms and yardage.

This month we will be wrapping up the Dresden Plate Instructions from Buny Hill. It's been fun finding dresden possibilities....Can't wait to see what you all have done.

Tari Johnson brought in the cutest little dresden plate bag she made after finding it at this site.

Speaking of bags.... (You know I love them!) Here is a short video of how to use the trace-n-create templates to make wonderful bags. I actually got to see Nancy Zieman demonstrate this in person! She's amazing and so is this product.
