Mini Triangle Ruler Demo and Quilt

At our September Moda Club meeting,
Anna Mary set up a demo for us showing
how to use the Quilter's Rule
Mini Triangle Ruler.

She made this beautiful quilt out of scraps, but suggested that layer cakes
would be perfect for this technique.

Start with two 9" squares, (light and dark fabrics)
placed right sides together.

Cut in half, as pictured.

From the center cuts, measure 2 1/4"
Cut again as pictured.

Using a 1/4" seam,
sew both edges of your 2 1/4" strips.

Using the Mini Triangle Ruler,
Begin cutting by placing the 2" line on the
seam line.  Reverse ruler and cut again.
You should get 5 cuts from this.
Open triangles and press carefully.
Using this same technique, take the remaining 2 larger triangles.  Sew together, as you would for any half square triangle.  Use the Mini Triangle Ruler again.  This time, lining up the 4" line on the seam.  Press open.

So many possibilities for these blocks!
